The Mission:

Welcome to olliereed.co.uk. We are now back online after a few months at Sedo to earn our hosting fees. We hope to earn enough from our Amazon referral fees to avoid having to take this action again next year, so please do use our Shop link above if you need anything from Amazon. Thank you.....

This website is dedicated to the life and times of the late great Oliver Reed. We are here to celebrate the fact that Ollie lived his life the way HE wanted to. He would not milk the corporate cow which is the U.S film industry, despite numerous offers to do so.

We are not here as a reference point for Ollie's undoubted acting achievements - this is a personal mission, to celebrate the fact that in a world full of brainless sheep, there are still some people out there who believe that life and people are more important than money and possessions.

In the words of the great man himself:

"You meet a better class of people in pubs"

As many Brits will be aware, the British film & TV establishment saw fit to virtually ignore his sad demise, as Ollie liked to do things his own way - we hope within these pages to provide a suitable means of tribute for those wishing to pay their respects to Ollie.

Since his death the U.S film industry has honoured Ollie; the U.K film and television industry still seems to treat him as something of a laughing stock.

Ollie Reed as Bill Sikes in Oliver!

Our tribute is not intended to be a history of Ollie's life. Those seeking information on his achievements and biographical details should visit the links page where you may access such information.

We aim mainly to celebrate his life, and indeed life in general. After all, we are not here for long and in the words of the great man, "I like to give my inhibitions a bath now and then."

I'll raise a glass or 3 to that one Ollie. We hope that you enjoy your visit to olliereed.co.uk.

If you would like to contact us regarding any aspect of this website, please send email to: tributes@olliereed.co.uk.

If you would like further in-depth information about Oliver Reed, we recommend you visit the longest standing Ollie Reed resource, Reeding The Web, which is an excellent source of information.

Update By Chips - May 2006:

"Returned from the pub and it has recentlly changed hands and the new owner,Graham Rogers, is a man of which I feel Ollie would have approved. He has no plans to change anything in there and I and my mates were made to feel very welcome so welcome infact that some nights we cant remember coming out .

Anyway was there on May 2 as the bell was rung and all in pub raised a glass to the Man after wich Gladiator was shown . As he was filming it at the time only fitting I suppose.

People we met had some great memories of him and the sad day so a very educational trip.

Attach photo evidence of interior in case it has altered since you last left a empty glass

If you make it out there check out the visitors book entry 2.5.06 from the Unoffical Branch Basildon Ollie appreciation Society."

Thanks Chips, and here are his pics (click to enlarge):
